Message Communication and Data Networking

AMR map windowi-VMS software is capable of managing a wide variety of different messaging systems such as AMR (AIS Message Router) and NMC (Network Message Center) as well as JMS MQ (Java Message Services, Message Queue). The AMR is capable of interfacing with a wide variety of AIS system components such as IALA defined AIS networks or directly with AIS base stations. The NMC is the subsystem responsible of textual message communication such as E-Mail, SMS, possible tactical messaging etc.

The AMR may be setup in a redundant fashion in order to reflect redundancy requirements. Both the AMR and the NMC use link-state routing technology to effectively route and pass messages between the actors in the system. The JMS/MQ interface is used to interface to legacy and non real-time systems.

AIS AMR windowThe AMR, NMC and JMS/MQ systems basically enable the authority to create an application level message routing system in order to exchange data in a secure and reliable fashion. The systems create a backbone on which the different actors or allied services in a surveillance system can exchange important data such as: AIS information, weather information, voyage data, database synchronization, etc.
